Outdoor resources contribute greatly to our health, happiness, and economy, but they also face ongoing stresses and require care and stewardship to ensure long-term sustainability. Leveraging our experience in outdoor stewardship volunteerism, the team below is helping other outdoor stewardship organizations, community nonprofits, and land management agencies develop effective volunteer programs to meet growing stewardship needs.

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado’s mission is to motivate and enable people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources. Learn more about our work at www.voc.org.

Success Stories

COSC

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) was instrumental to the development and management of the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Coalition (COSC), a group of nearly 30 nonprofits and land management agencies dedicated to promoting stewardship of Colorado’s outdoors. The group, which started in 2010, has conducted numerous studies on the impact of volunteerism and launched the Statewide Stewardship Initiative (SSI) in 2017, which aims to build the infrastructure needed to sustain long-term stewardship through establishing best practices and common metrics, as well as launching an online database of outdoor stewardship organizations to better connect nonprofits, volunteers, and land managers in Colorado.
