This course is for

OSI’s online Ecological Restoration Overview is intended to introduce students to fundamental concepts common practical methods of ecological restoration. The online course covers the fundamentals of restoration, basic planting, seeding and erosion control.

The course can be taken on it’s own to provide an introduction to ecological restoration and can be paired with OSI’s online Guide to Crew Leadership and further field training for Crew Leadership for Ecological Restoration certification. 

Course Objectives

By the time the course concludes, students will be able to:

  • Understand fundamentals of restoration ecology
  • Understand and identify basic concepts and tasks in:
    • Seeding and seedbed preparation
    • Planting and transplanting
    • Erosion control
