Regional Workshops to Build Stewardship Capacity in Colorado

Outdoor stewardship professionals, land managers, volunteers, and others are invited to attend the regional workshops hosted by the Colorado Outdoor Stewardship Coalition (COSC) in Spring 2019. These workshops will cover the recently published Outdoor Stewardship Best Practices Guide and universal accomplishment database and help shape the future of the state’s stewardship community. $5,000 scholarships available to colorado students

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) is excited to offer four $5,000 scholarships to Colorado students who have demonstrated a commitment to volunteering for the outdoors and who plan to pursue an education related to the environment, natural resources, or outdoor recreation at an accredited Colorado college. Two scholarships are reserved for graduating high school seniors; the other two are for non-traditional students. More >>

public comment period opens for 2019 scorp

Public comment period is open for the DRAFT Colorado 2019 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The plan charts a course for conservation and recreation in Colorado for the next five years. It includes new studies looking at outdoor recreation management issues and participation trends, including barriers and motivations. Please review the draft plan and share your feedback by October 22nd, 2018 at Coloradoscorp.org.

Colorado hauls in $28B yearly from recreation

It might be little surprise that $28 billion is spent annually in Colorado on outdoor recreation, with close to half — $12.8 billion — coming out of the pockets of out-of-state residents, according to a report recently released by the Boulder-based Outdoor Industry Association.
