Chris Nesset is the Chief Executive Officer for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC). Through her leadership and vision, she ensures VOC’s success in motivating people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources. Her role is to bring the board of directors, staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders together to create innovative and collaborative solutions that improve our public lands and foster stewardship in our communities. Her passion for the outdoors and service is contagious, whether it is speaking at a fundraiser or out in the field on a project.
Chris comes to Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado with over 25 years in a wide variety of non-profit experiences in volunteerism and conservation. Prior to joining VOC in 2021, she held several leadership roles with organizations such as Northwest Youth Corps, Montana Conservation Corps, Conservation Legacy, and the Pacific Science Center. Throughout her career she has honed her skills in developing innovative partnerships and strategic planning to support organizational growth and relevancy. She was recognized as a Together Green Audubon Fellow, served on the board of directors for the Colorado Youth Corps Association, Continental Divide Trail Alliance, and the Wilderness Recreation Partnership. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Mary Washington.
