Emily joined as the Community Programs Coordinator for Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) in 2023. She is the main point of contact for the Cairn Program, and coordinates engagement with the Healthy Community Projects, and the Grossman Scholarship fund. She also delivers VOC’s youth and family programming, Team Stewardship Days, and various public volunteer projects.
After growing up hiking in the Shenandoah Valley, Emily decided to pursue her passion for the environment by earning her B.A. in Environmental & Sustainability Studies from George Mason University in Virginia. She fostered her love for public lands while completing two internships for the National Park Service and National Forest Service in California. She also served as an AmeriCorps member in Washington where she worked on ecological restoration, environmental education, and volunteer management. Most recently, she helped her fellow REI employees get involved with local stewardship efforts and educating others about gearing up to enjoy the outdoors.
